Two strobes were used, one on the camera's hot shoe and the other on a stand set behind the model.

It was cold, long, scary and far away photo session...
Been awhile since the last time I had a similar photo session.
Recently I lost my inspiration, I've been feeling powerless and I thought seriously to quit photography, because I ended up thinking I am not a good photographer based on many reasons.

من فترة رحت أصور تمثالين لصالح مجلة ذوق للنحات الكبير سامي محمد، من قبل شفت أحد اعماله بس ما كنت أدري إنه له...

التمثال الأول للمغفور له الشيخ صباح السالم الصباح و إرتفاعه تقريباً 3 أمتار و التمثال الثاني للمغفور له الشيخ عبدالله السالم الصباح (اللي تشوفونه بالصورة فوق).

بعدين إكتشفت إن التمثالين صارت عليهم سالفة في مجلس "الشسمة" و إضطروا أصحاب المكان اللي موجودين فيه التماثيل على إنهم يرفعون السور عشان محد يقدر يشوفهم و السبب طبعاً عشان التماثيل حرام شرعاً.

بغض النظر عن هالموضوع التمثالين جد تحفة فنية من تفاصيل و ضخامة، لدرجة إني لما رحت أول مرة أشوفهم إنبهرت و قعدت أفكر إشلون النحات إشتغل على تمثال الشيخ سالم مع العلم إن إرتفاعه 3 أمتار أو يمكن أكثر و بعدين إشلون يابوه في هالمكان؟

عموماً...الصور صورتهم أنا كبروفة لأني كنت حاب أجرب الرسم بالضوء (لأول مرة) في هذي الجلسة تحديداً لأن في بالي أظهر التماثيل بشكل مشابه لتمثال أبو الهول في الليل، حسيت هالأسلوب راح يعطيهم هيبتهم.

جلسة التصوير الأصلية كانت المفروض تكون بحضور النحات سامي محمد بس ما صار الموضوع لأنه كان مسافر و كان العدد اليديد من المجلة راح ينزل، في الآخر إنلغت الجلسة و قرروا ينشرون الصورة اللي فوق من البروفة مع صور أرشيفية للنحات.

إستخدمت إضاءة بيضا في رسم التمثال عشان جذيه لونه مايل للأزرق و الجزء اللي على اليسار حده باط جبدي بس ما فكرت أشيله وقتها لأني كنت حاط في بالي إن جلسة التصوير بروفة بس :S

في الأخير أحب أشكر الأخوة في مجلة ذوق خصوصاً السادة بدر الحجيلان و أحمد الغانم على هالتجربة :)

I had the other day a photo session for Thouq magazine of two amazing statues of the great scluptor Sami Mohammad, which I've seen his work before but I had no idea who was the artist at the time.

The first statue is around 3 meter high of the late prince Sabah AlSalim AlSabah while the other one of late prince Abdullah AlSalim AlSabah.

I've seen the statues before the photo session just to have a general idea about their location and how to shoot them, I decided to use painting with light technique...I wanted them to look the sphinx in the middle of the night, I thought it will give them a prestige.

Few days later I went back for a test shoot since the original Sami Mohammad was going to be a part of the photo shoot but at the time he was traveling abroad and not going to comeback soon so the magazine decided to use the photo above with other archival photos.

I used white light for painting, that's why it looks blueish...I hate the left part of the photo, I could fix that but I didn't because at the time I thought this is just a test photo session :S

Bottled Water of the Middle East

Taken for Brownbook magazine (Published on the 12th issue, you can see below).

I really wished to have a light tent, I even looked for one that time but I couldn't find one back then and I didn't have enough time to get one online.

As you can see, the photo was over exposed on the right side of it because that's where I placed the only Speedlight I used to have (now I have 4).

Bottled water photos were taken by three different photographers from three different middle eastern countries...Don't you just love technology?

P.S. That photo wasn't suppose to be published.

الصورة اللي فوق صورتها لصالح مجلة براون بوك (تم نشرها في العدد 12، شوفوها تحت).

كنت أتمنى لو كان وقتها عندي خيمة إضاءة و وقتها دورت بس ما لقيت و ما كان في وقت كافي عشان أطب وحدة من الإنترنت.

مثل ما انتوا شايفين الجزء اليمين من الصورة تعرض للضوء أكثر من باقي الصورة، و هذا سببه إني كنت حاط الفلاش بهلجهة و ما كان عندي بوقتها إلا واحد (الحين عندي 4).

صور قناني الماي صوروها 3 مصورين من ثلاث دول شرق أوسطية مختلفة!

حيـــــــــــــــل ودي أسوي مشروع خاص فيني بس اخاف من الفشل، صحيح أنا أعتبر نفسي من الناس اللي تغامر و ما تغامر بأي شي و لما أغامر أغامر بكل شي و لأقصى حد ممكن أوصله...بس هم يظل جزء الخوف من المجهول فيني.

شكلي قاعد أخربط و أنا بالدوام، بس ودي أتحجى و ما لقيت إلا البلوق أكتب فيه :)

I know it's not that good, I was just trying to find out how to master a unit and slave the other and it worked...

In the photo above I used two speedlights, the master was mounted on the camera while it was forced off...I only used it as a commander.

The second speedlight was placed on the right with orange filter gel.

Now I know how to use two speedlights, I need a large object to practice with the other two speedlights :D

They just arrived, now I own 4 SB-800 (I got the 4th one was few months ago, it was mounted on the camera that's why it's not in the photo) woohooo :D

I can't wait to experiment my new Nikon CLS :D

Inshalla later I will get stands and umbrellas, I hope I can do something good during the weekend.

ابي اسوي نفس الفيديو تحت بس مادري وين القى احد اجرب فيه

ذاك اليوم شفت مصور أجنبي إسمه Joe Mcnally على يوتيوب، كان مصور نفسه و اهوه قاعد يسوي جلسة تصوير...فقررت انه من اليوم و رايح أي جلسة تصوير راح أسويها بصورها فيديو، و كانت البداية مع الصورة اللي صورتها نفسي من جم يوم و كتبت شوية عنها.

السؤال اهوه هل أكمل في هالشي أو لأ؟

Few days ago, I've seen a video of the photographer Joe Mcnally on youtube. He was shooting him self during one of his photo sessions...So I decided to do the same from now on, the first photo/video session I had was few days ago when I posted a message about it.

The only question I have now, should I keep doing it?

I didn't know what to call this blog...
I haven't been so active blogger recently because I've been away (Tunisia) then I cameback and I kinda lost my track of time...Now I'll take you back to my birthday on 23rd of July 2008...

ما كنت ادري شنو اسمي "هالتدوينة"...
صارلي فترة مو نشيط بالكتابة عشان كنت مسافر تونس و لما رجعت كان وقتي خربان...الحين باخذكم ورا ليوم عيد ميلادي 23 يوليو (7)2008...

On my birthday, I wake up (late to work of course) and I had a headache as usual, on my way to work I had a flat tire...It was more like a tiny explosion...I called my father to get me his car and take mine because I didn't want to mess my clothes up...He just yelled at me as usual...

يوم عيد ميلادي قمت من النوم متأخر كالعادة عالشغل و انا بالطريج بنشرت سيارتي (كان اقرب حق انفجار صغير من انه بنشر عادي)...المهم دقيت على ابوي عشان ايبلي سيارته و ياخذ سيارتي مابي اوصخ هدومي و انا متأخر...و سمعني شعر كالعادة...

At work, my supervisor told me why are you late today?
I replied: It's my birthday and I had a flat tire but I have no idea if she believed me or not LOL

في الشغل، مسؤولتي قالتلي ليش متأخر اليوم؟
قلتلها: اليوم عيد ميلادي و بنشجرت سيارتي بس مادري صدقت و الا لأ :\

I almost had a fight with a guy at work, but usually I just walk away before I reach the point were I lose it.

و انا هناك بقيت اتخانق مع واحد حمار حشاكم بس نوعيتي انا لما اعصب امشي عشان ما اظل لي الاخر و انسى نفسي...عشان ما اقلبها فلم saving private rayan

At night, my sister came we had some cake and I left to the airport because I had to go to Tunisia.

في الليل اختي يت و كلينا كيك و بعدين رحت المطار على طول عشان كنت بروح تونس.

In Tunisia, I met people who I knew since the year 2000 online, through phone and SMS (text msgs) for the first time (including Latifa).

في تونس...قابلت ناس كنت اكلمهم من سنة 2000 في الانترنت، و بالتلفون و المسجات للمرة الأولى من ضمنهم لطيفة.

Yesterday I went to the beach with some friends,I slipped on a rock and I had a cut on my sole...Today I was late to work (again) and my supervisor asked me why?
I said: My sole hurts...See?

I am back!

Well it's been more than two weeks since my last post, that's because I had a vacation to Tunisia and then I finally had the chance to meet Latifa 5 times within 9 days; I am not going to talk about this now, but maybe later in details with photos and videos :Pp~

I super hate the police men in their airport because they made me forget two posters I've got from there :(
They made me go back and forth many times and that's why I forgot them :(

كرهوني بعمري شرطة مطار تونس قرطاج....حتى في بوكي طلوا اللي يقول الحين اسكت عملتهم بالسما...فتشوني بمطارهم أكثر من ما تفتشت بمطار الكويت و انا راجع من تونس...بس هم شفت لطيفه 5 مرات في 9 ايام و هذا كافي :Pp¬

I think the clock above is the landmark of Tunis (the capital not the country), even while I was taking that photo police men were standing by me because their ministry of interior was just on the other way.

One more thing...Yeah I had fun since I had the chance to meet Latifa 5 times within 9 days (In case you didn't read the first lines).

انا اعتبر الساعة اللي فوق علامة في تونس العاصمة (مثل ابراج الكويت في الكويت)...حتى و انا قاعد اصور هالساعة كان واقف يمي شرطي عشان كانت وزارة الداخلية مالتهم بظهري...حمدلله و الشكر مادري شلون بصور بظهري!

الصورة الأصلية يمكن بعضكم شافها من قبل في فلكري (تقدرون تشوفون الصورة الأصلية تحت)...صارلي فترة منزل برنامج مسويلي قلق و متعب نفسيتي...مو عارف من وين أبدا فيه بس إلا بتعلم عليه...هذي أول تجربة لي...ادري خرتها بالاغنية اخر شي لأني قفلت و مبين انها مقطعة قطيع بس هذي أول تجربة لي...ها يطلع مني؟

توه وصلت عدستي اللي صارلي اشهر متردد اخذها....قبل شهرين يوم قررت خلاص باخذها قالولي الوكالة انها Out of stock و كل مره يقولون احنا طلبنا الشهر الياي توصل...اخر شي قررت اطلبها قبل اسبوع تقريباً من أمازون و وصلت اخيراً.

لي الحين بقراطيسها عشان الجو غبار عندنا اليوم...الاسبوع كله الجو احلى منه مافي بس يوم وصلت عدستي صار غبار

شوي بروح اخذلها فلتر و شيلد اذا في و بجربها "رغماً عن أنف الغبار"...اشفيه ابو القاسم الشابي؟ لوووول

اذا في احد هامه الموضوع راح احط صوره من التجربة اللي راح اسويها اهنيه بعدين.

تحديث: لي اليوم كان عندي عدسة وحدة اللي اهيه نيكون 18-200 ملم، من شريت كامرتي (قبل سنة تقريباً) مع العدسة هذي ما شلت العدسة من مكانها بس قبل شوي شلتها و صورت فيها صور أبهرتني بصراحة فيها العدسة خصوصاً مع إستخدامي إضاءة خافتة و حتى بدون ترايبود (حامل الكاميرا).

من شهر تقريباً قالولي عن إعلان مسابقة و معرض تصوير برعاية كونا (وكالة الأنباء الكويتية)، شاركت بالمسابقة بصورتين أتوقع الكل شافهم في فلكر.

كلموني كونا اليوم الصبح قالولي إن المعرض بيكون اليوم...المهم رجعت البيت نمت و قمت خذت كامرتي و رحت المعرض...الصورة الثانية ما كانت معروضة (أتوقع إنها مو قد المقام) و الصورة الأولى (لله مكتوبة بجذع إشيرة) لقيتها بس كانت منسوبة حق شخص ثاني...إنبطت جبدي...
مادري منو أكلم، رحت حق الأخت اللي كانت تقدم قالتلي كلم أنور الحساوي...
السيد أنور الحساوي كان مرافق معالي وزير الإعلام الشيخ صباح الخالد الصباح و الشيخ مبارك الدعيج الصباح (رئيس مجلس الإدارة المدير العام لوكالة الأنباء الكويتية كونا) و كان حواليهم حرس (يعني إنسى توصله)، المهم دششت نفسي غصب و الحرس يوخروني و أنا أوخرهم و اهمه يوخروني و أنا أوخرهم و انا ينانوتي قاعدة ترقص جدامي بريك دانس شوية و..........................

قلت أخ انور جان يلتفت علي (إهنيه فجوا الأمن عني شوي)...
قلتله صورتي معروضة بإسم واحد ثاني؟!
رد علي ابرود: "إشخط على الإسم و إكتب إسمك بقلم" ولف ويها عني!

بصراحة يعني كلش ما توقعت الرد هذا، وين قاعدين بجنغل لاند؟

هذا كان ثاني معرض أشارك فيه، المرة الأولى كان معرض هوايات الدبلوماسيين...وقتها قلت ما راح أشارك بمعرض بعد بس بعدين غيرت رايي بعد ما عرفت اللي صار "ورا الكواليس".

أنا بصراحة مادري إذا هذا كان شي مقصود أو لأ...
على كل حال الله يوفق الكل ومبروك للناس اللي فازوا خصوصاً اللى أعرفهم الأخوان ضاري الفوزان و خليل حيدر و يوسف الحقان و محمد الصايغ و عبدالله الدرباس.

تحديث (6 مايو 2008) للعلم هذي شروط كونا للمشاركة و بعدين بتشوفون شنو صار بعد يوم المعرض:
- للمتسابق الحق بإنه يشارك بتسع صور، 3 في كل مجال (مكتوب في إعلان المسابقة)
- تطبع الصورة بقياس 45*30 (على حساب المتشارك طبعاً) مع تزويدهم بقرص مدمج للصور (مكتوب في إعلان المسابقة)
- يجب على المشارك أن لا يضع إسمه على الصور أو أي كتابة أو علامة مائية (مكتوب في إعلان المسابقة)
- لا يحق للمشاركين المطالبة بصورهم أو أي شي يخصهم (مكتوب في إعلان المسابقة)
- كل الصور لازم تكون متصورة بالكويت (بعد إستفساري من خلال التلفون)
- لهم الحق بإعادة نشر الصورة في أي مكان دون الرجوع للمصور و دون ذكر إسم المصور في حالة إعادة نشر الصورة (بعد إستفساري من خلال التلفون)
آخر نقطة خلتني أقرر إني ما أشارك بأكثر من الصورتين، عشان أنا فهمت جزء عدد الصور غلط في الأول عبالي المشارك يقدر يشارك بثلاث صور - صورة في كل مجال - بس بعد ما عرفت النقطة الأخيرة من الشروط قررت ما أشارك بأكثر من الصورتين لأني طبعتهم خلاص.

بعد ما صارموضوع كونا أمس، قلت إن المعرض تم و الناس يت و الصحافة صورت و الوزير إفتتح المعرض، يعني ماكو فايدة لو بطلب تعديل الإسم...هالنوعية من المعارض يكون أول يوم بس اهوه اليوم اللي يكون فيه ناس و ثاني يوم و طالع ما بتلاقون فيهم أحد كلش... عشان جذيه قلت ما راح أسوي شي و لا راح أكلمهم و لا بسوي و لا حتى "مثقال ذرة"...
بس في ناس معاي بالدوام قعدوا يحنون لا ما يصير جذيه و لازم تسوي شي و اللي صار فوضة و دام صارلك جذيه تكلم عشان ما يصير حق غيرك بعدين و مادري شنو...على الأقل كلمهم قولهم بشيل صورتي من المعرض...
آخر شي إقتنعت و كلمت كونا و واحد يقطني عالثاني واحد يقطني عالثاني لما آخر شي وصلت للسيد عدنان العاشور...

قلتله: صورتي معروضة بالمعرض بإسم واحد ثاني!
قال: "كان في لخبطة بالأسامي"
قلتله: جم واحد صار فيه لخبطة بإسمه؟
قال: "بس واحد"! (في حالة إنكم ما عرفتوا منو هالواحد...أنا...شفتوا سخرية القدر؟)
قلتله: انزين و الحين إشلون؟
قال: "خلاص عدلنا الأسامي"

خلص الدوام و رجعت البيت...دخلت فلكر بعد ما كنت اكلم اختي بالتلفون (بإستخدام الهاند فري عشان المخالفات طبعاً) و قالتلي في رد من أحد شكله منهم...و صج لقيت رد السيد هاني المواش (أحد أعضاء لجنة التحكيم) على اللي كتبته:

مشكور على إهتمامك و تخصيص وقت للرد، قواك الله...
ردود الناس اللي شفتها كانت من ناس مالها شغل بالموضوع، برايك أنا شنو حسيت؟
رد السيد أنور الحساوي لي حسسني إن صورتي بالنسبة له مجرد ورقة عليها ألوان...بالنسبة لي أنا كانت شلعة نفسي من فير الله من الفراش و ركوبي سيارتي و روحتي حق هالمكان عشان أصور هالصورة و ردتي البيت و قعدتي على الأقل 5 دقايق عشان أبرز الخط الأزرق اللي بالصورة، بعدين روحتي حق المطبعة عشان أطبع الصورة و أوصلها كونا و ما نمت يوم المعرض العصر عدل عشان أحرص إني أحضره، كل هذا عشان بالأخير أشارك بالصورة و أتمنى إني ما شاركت!

أنا من كثر القهر اللي حسيته وقتها بغيت أشلع الطوفة اللي عليها صورتي و أطلع من هناك!
بس لو سويت شي جذيه كنت بطلع أنا الغلطان بالآخر...
عموماً انا من زمان علمت نفسي إن العصبية ما توصل حق شي، خصوصاً إن أنا كنت من الناس اللي لما تعصب ما تشوف شي جدامها ولا ياهل و لا ريال و لا حتى عيوز عمية تخطر الشارع على عكاز...تقدر تقول إني أندمج "أكثر من" وايد بالسالفة.

المفروض يعني يكون في تنسيق و حرص أكبر على حقوق الناس من جذي، خصوصاً إن كونا تعتبر شي معروف بالكويت و بره الكويت بعد يعني لهم إسم...
و لو أهمه يدرون في أخطاء بالأسامي...كان المفروض يكلفون أحد يعدل الأسامي بوقتها...ما يقولون حق المشاركين يعدلون بنفسهم مهما كان إحنا نعتبر ناس من بره، شنو بتقول الناس لما بتشوف أحد من بره يشخط على صورة من الصور؟
بتقول واحد من اثنين "هذا عشان ما ربح شي سوا جذيه" مع أن انا مو من النوع اللي يفكر جذيه كلش، و إلا بيقولون "طاع هذا عباله محول كهربا مو صورة؟"

بعد ما السيد عدنان العاشور قالي إن الإسم تعدل...أنا أدري إنه محد بيروح المعرض مثل ما قلت فوق بس من باب الفضول رحت أشوف شنو سوو بالضبط؟
كل اللي صار إنهم شالوا إسم الشخص اللي كان موجود تحت صورتي و خلوا مكانه فراغ مثل مو شايفين بالصورة اللي تحت...

على كل حال يسلم راسهم، صج أنا إنظلمت و ما كان في عدل بحقي نهائياً بس عمري ما سويت شي بحياتي و نطرت شي من وراه...و القرطاس اللي مسوينه و مسمينه شهادة مشاركة مابيه خيشخطون على إسم أبوي اللي فيه (عشان فيه إسم من أسماء الله الحسنى) و يقطونه بالزبالة و إذا يحبون بعد يشخطون حياتي من الوجود بعد هم أوكي...اهم سو جزء كبير من هالشي ما بقى إلا "شوية".

تحديث (20 مايو 2008)...اليوم دقت علي وحدة بالدوام:
تقول: "بشار؟"
قلتلها: هلا؟
قالت: احنا من كونا،لك شهادة مشاركة تعال استلمها من الساعة جذيه لي الساعة جذيه (ما اذكر جم قالت)
قلتلها: "مابيها شكراً"
اسكتت شكلها مو متوقعة الرد لووووووووول
جان تقول: "كيفك" و صكت التلفون

A month or so I was told about a competition and exhibition for photographers sponsered by Kuwait News Agency KUNA (Similar to reuters), I participated with two photos (First & Second) I guess everybody seen them in flickr photo stream.

Today morning, I had a phone call from KUNA telling me that the exhibition is going to take place today...I went back home, slept for a while then grabbed my camera and went there...I didn't find my second photo (Probably they thought it's not good enough) while I found my first photo (The tree says to God or for God in Arabic script) but it was credited to someone else...I was so mad...
I had no idea who shall I talk to, so I went to the host anf she said that I should tell that to Anwar Al Hasawi...
Mr. Anwar Al Haswai was guiding the Minister of Information Shaikh Sabah Al Khalid Al Sabah and Shaikh Mobarak Al Duaij Al Sabah (the general manager of KUNA) around the exhibition and they were sourrounded with body guards so I had no chance to talk to him, I forced my self in anyway and the guards were pushing me away and I was pushing back and so on...I was so furious to the point that I almost ........................................

I said loudly Mr. Anwar, then her turned around (and that's when then guards gave me a break)...

I said my photo is displayed with someone else's name?!
He carlessly said: "Scratch his name with a pen and write your name instead"then he turned his face away!

Honestly I didn't expect that answer, are we living in jungle or what?

That was the story of my second exhibition ever, my first one was The Diplomats Hobbies Exhibition...At the time I decided not to participate in any exhibition anymore, but later I changed my mind when I found out what really happened in the "back stage".

Update (6th of May 2008) for your information, the following are the rules to participate in KUNA's competition and exhibition:

- Everyone can participated with 9 photos, 3 photos in each category (Written in the competition's Ad.)
- All photos should be printed in 45*30 CM (fees paid by the participant); also they want a CD of the photos in original size (Written in the competition's Ad.)
- Participants shouldn't write their name or place any kind of water marks on their photos (Written in the competition's Ad.)
- Participants can not claim their photos or CD later (Written in the competition's Ad.)
- All photos should be taken in Kuwait (Phone call with them before the event)
- KUNA will have the write to re-publish the photos where ever they want without the photographer's permission and without crediting him/her (Phone call with them before the event)

Because of the last rule, I decided to participate with two photos only since I already printed them, I initially thought I can participate with 3 photos (1 in each category) but after visiting them to deliver the photos I found out that I can participate with more.

After what KUNA did to me yesterday...The exhibition took place, the press came to cover the event and the minister attended the opening ceremony; I decided to do nothing because I knew it will be pointless since this kind of exhibitions are usually crowded in the first day only, on the second day you will find no visitors at all...
But some people at work insisted and kept telling me that I should do something about KUNA's chaos and to insure that they doesn't do that again to others in the future...At least to remove my photo from the exhibition...
So I decided to call KUNA and one of them was passing me to the other like a ball until I reached Mr. Adnan Al Ashoor...

I said: My photo is credited in the exhibition with someone else's name!
He replied: "There was a mess with the tagging" (DUH!)
I asked him: How many persons did you miss placed their names?
He replied: "Only one" (In case you didn't get who was he...It was me...Isn't that sarcastic?)
I said: Now what?
He replied: "We fixed the names"

I went back home and I found the reply of Mr. Hani Al Mawwash (one of the judges) on my flickr's post saying that he thinks it's my right to get mad but he doesn't agree with people's replied on my post.
The organizers didn't want to reveal the winners names before the event, so they placed numbers on each photos and they didn't write the names on the photos until the event's day, they had to fix some names just a little bit before the opening ceremony and it was hard to fix them during the event but after the ceremony they were fixed easily...The mess was in few names only.

The replied of the people whom you found on my post were of people who are not related to the mess...How do you think I felt that day?
The response of Mr. Anwar Al Hasawi made me feel that my photo is just a piece of a colored paper...To me it was dragging my self out of bed in the dawn time, driving my car to that location to shoot that photo and coming back home to spend at least 5 minutes to cutout the blue line in the photo, then going to the press to print the photo and deliver it to KUNA, then I didn't sleep well on the exhibition's day to make sure that I attend the ceremony...To eventually wish that I didn't participate in the first place!

I felt so oppressed to the point that I almost "uprooted" the wall with my photo on it and leave the exhibition!
But if I did that, I will be the bad guy...
Anyway longtime ago I taught my self the madness won't get me anywhere, specifically with people who have anger control problems such as me...When I get mad I don't care if the other part was a kid, a man or an old blind grandmother crossing the street using a stick...I just lose it.

KUNA should organize such events better than that, and make sure that all people get their rights...Especially since KUNA suppose to be a formal/official place which is known in Kuwait and world wide...
If they already knew about the mess before the ceremony, they've should make someone from KUNA responsible to fix the names at the time...They shouldn't tell the participants to "Scratch people's names and write their own names on their own photos, after all we are outsiders not a part of KUNA nor the organizers...What will the visitors and press think if they watched an outsider scratching someone's name and writing their's instead?
They probably will think that I am jealous because I didn't win whatever the prize is, while I am not this kind of people at all.

Anyway when Mr. Adnan Al Ashoor said that the name was fixed, I knew no one will visit the exhibition anymore as I said earlier but my curiously was forcing me to go and find out what they have done to fix it exactly?

Well...They removed the guy's name off my photo and now there is a white space instead as you can see in the photo below...

Thank you KUNA anyway, it's true I was oppressed and that wasn't fair to me at all but I never done anything in my life and waited for a reward...I don't need the piece of paper which is stating my name as a participant in the competition and exhibition, they better scratch my name of it and throw it in the trash...I don't even care if they scratched my whole life of existence either...After all they already accomplished a big part of that, just a "tiny" part is left.

Update (6th of May 2008)...Today I had a phone call from a female while I was at work:
She said: "Bashar?"
I said: yes?
She said: We are from KUNA and we have a certificate for you
I said: "I don't want it thanks"
I guess she didn't expect my reply, she said nothing for a while then she said "As you like" and hung up the phone

brownbook urban guide

brownbook urban guide (aka brownbook urban city guide) is a project by Dubai based publishing company called Brownbook. They've been publishing brownbook magazine (which is focusing on middle eastern lifestyle agendas, events and developments) and recently they decided to do something different which is releasing urban city guide of 10 middle eastern cities and they are: Cairo, Beirut, Muscat, Manama, Tehran, Kuwait, Istanbul, Jeddah, Doha and Dubai.

The 10 guides are sponsered by Nakheel (real estate developer), they are sold as a package, each guide is a pocket size written in English and will be distributed internationally by Barnes & Noble.

The guides were officially launched on 21st of February 2008.

Why would I care about this?
Well....I was the photographer of Kuwait's guide :D

I just received 11 guides (10 of them of Kuwait, you can see them in the photo above), it was nice of them...They didn't have to do it; Thanks guys :D

I didn't read it yet, I will and I'll probably write a review about it and talk about what happened when during some photo sessions :D

وصلني 11 كتيب (10 منهم عن الكويت، تشاهدونهم في الصورة أعلاه)، كانت بادرة طيبة منهم مع العلم أنهم لم يكونوا مضطرين لذلك...شكراً لكم :)

لم أقم بقرائته بعد و لكن سأقرأه و غالباً ما سأكتب تقييم له، و قد أذكر بعض المواقف التي حصلت لي خلال تصوير بعض الأماكن.
